Tent Sale
tent

I have spent the last couple of days going through the boxes that have been in storage and still have about a weeks worth of work to do. I can't believe how much yarn there will be out at the sale.

The sale will be Wednesday and Thursday from noon-8pm. Parking is limited at the store but you can also park behind the variety store beside us. Also, if you are coming along Rousseaux Street and turning left onto Wilson, go just past the store and there is an open lot. The sign says 'reserved for pub'. Come early and go for lunch at The Coach and Lantern. You won't be disappointed. There is also a great shoe store (Hanley's Shoes) to visit.

Here are some of the great yarns we are offering

  • Rowan Big Wool, Biggy Print and Plaid-$14
  • Jaeger Fur-$9
  • Jaeger Natural Fleece-$14
  • Noro Iro, Transitions and Kochoran (discontinued colours)-$14
  • Silk Garden odd balls-$8
  • great yarns for scarves and shawls
  • odd balls of baby yarn and sock yarn
  • yarns for felting

I just spent 5 days in Indianapolis at a trade show viewing the new yarns and knitting products for fall. There are some great patterns and yarns coming out.

A few trends throughout the show were

  • self-striping yarns
  • natural fibers
  • lots of socks
  • funky knitting needles
  • great knitting bags

Glow in the dark knitting needles

Everyone at the show was talking about Clover's new Knit Lite. These are plastic knitting needles that have a light in them (batteries are included and are easy to replace). Enjoy knitting anywhere, anytime-day and night. If you have a problem knitting with dark or fuzzy yarns these will help you to see the stitches easier. There was an article in the New York Times about these needles a couple of months ago which has created a huge buzz in the US.

I am hoping our shipment arrives mid July.

New knitting bags

Before you walk into the show there is an area showcasing new products. The first thing I saw was the coolest knitting bag from a company called Namaste. I had never heard of them but they were the first booth I visited. Arriving in the next couple of weeks are the Messenger Bag (pictured here in one of the four colours we ordered), the Everyday bag in 5 colours, the Needle Binder (in Avocado and Chocolate) as well as Shells for holding your special needles.

Fabric Scarves and Wraps

Trendsetter has introduced these great pieces of fabric that you weave yarns through to make shawls or scarves. The base is available in black or cream.

These are a great way to reduce your stash on an easy project. Great for the non-knitter; all you need is a sewing needle.

I have just finished a shawl that will be on display at the tent sale. You can stock up on cheap yarn and make some amazing gifts!!

Claudia Hand Painted Yarns

The number of people knitting socks is increasing daily. Many people want new and exciting sock yarns so I am bringing some hand painted 100% merino wool from the US. Along with the sock yarn I ordered a few colours of the Kid Mohair Brushed that has 490m on a 50 gram skein. Great for shawls.

As with all hand painted yarns, the order will be 8-12 weeks before it arrives.
