Tip
A student in my Thursday night class finished knitting her cardigan and started to sew it together.  When we got to the sleeves they wouldn't fit in.  After looking at it for a few minutes we figured out that the fronts and back were different lengths.  She measured each but here is what she should have done.
  • knit the back to the measurements of the pattern
  • when done, count the rows to the armhole and the neck shaping
  • knit the fronts to the number of rows-not the length

You might say that it is hard to count the rows.  Look at the garment.  Are there cables or a stitch pattern?  If so, count the cables or pattern repeats to the armhole and neck.
