Babies
1724
It seems like everyone is having a baby these days.  Sirdar leaflet 1724 is an easy jacket to knit for a little boy or girl.  The pattern is sized from newborn to six year old.    You can knit it out of two different machine washable yarns-Tiny Tots (100% acrylic) or Buttons (83% pure New Zealand wool and 17% polyester effect yarn)

Upside Down Jacket

This pattern is a revision of Naturally pattern N1051.  The original pattern by Gitta Schrade was for the jacket with the big collar.  Knit'N Style magazine printed the pattern but had the model wearing it as the long version.  We liked this version but you couldn't just take the original and turn upside down-there were sleeve seams on the top of your sleeves.  Wannietta Prescod knit the jacket and wrote the pattern so that you have 2 jackets in one.  Wear it long with a small collar or wear it short with a big collar.

This is only available as a kit.

Most of the yarns for spring are now in.  The store is full again!!  We are starting to order the fall yarns over the next couple of weeks.  Incredible because spring just arrived.

Starting on May 1, our summer hours will begin.  The store will be closed on Mondays until the beginning of September.  If you are visiting from out of town and that is the only day you can come, please call ahead and we will try and accommodate this.

Don't forget to check out my blog between newsletters.  I show new yarns that arrive and progress on my knitting.

Many of you are asking about our tent sale.  We are looking at a date in August right now.  This will coincide with our 20th anniversary.

Laura Jacket

One of nine new patterns from Jane Slicer-Smith.

Jane's designs are knit out of Merino Otto (worsted weight) and Merino Sei (double knitting weight).  No matter how you say it or pronounce it or in what language you decide to talk in, this yarn is truly the most luscious classic yarn available. (100% merino wool from Italy.  The yarn is amazing-it does not pill!!!)  Jane has been designing beautiful classic swing coats and novelty coats in this yarn for the past few years and inspires new knitters into fabulous new styles, easy to knit that look amazing.

Tip

I made a mistake in the last newsletter when talking about a tension swatch-here is how the end should have read

  • if you are getting less stitches than the pattern asks for-use a smaller needle and start again.
  • if you are getting more stitches than the pattern asks for-use a larger needle and start again.
