We are hoping to teach a class on lace knitting soon.  I am talking with Joan Kass from the Downtown Knit Collective about teaching the class.  Joan has taught many times at the Knitter's Frolic as well as in yarn shops.  Send me an email if you are interested and I will let you know when it is taking place.

Gone Stitchin'

Thursday, October 2-Sunday, October 5, 2008

The dates have changed for 2008. There was a slight communication glitch with the resort and they have a wedding booked for the weekend we wanted.  There are some pros and cons with the move.

Pros
  • the leaves will be changing when we get there
  • the yarn companies will have more sample garments to loan us
  • we will have time to restock after the Knitter's Fair

Cons

  • Sally Melville can't join us this year but will be back for 2009

The Gone Stitchin' website will be updated very soon to reflect the new dates and pricing.  Barry Klein from Trendsetter Yarns will be back with us again and we are working on the second teacher.

Baby Suri

keyhole

We are now carrying Brushed Suri from Blue Sky Alpacas.  It is a blend of 67% Baby Suri, 22% Merino and 11% Bamboo.  The Keyhole scarf takes one skein and you can download the pattern from their website.

Vintage Bag
A shipment of Vintage bags arrived today.

vintage
Inspired by a long forgotten 1940's knitting bag design, Namaste's Vintage Bag combines the classy feel of the past with the pizzazz of the present. Its spacious interior can accommodate the largest of projects when you're on the go, or be used as fashionable storage in your home or office. This bag is made of a synthetic "leatherette" material.

Why are my edge stitches loose?
This question was asked more than once in my beginner class last week.  It is actually asked in every class that I teach.  It is a problem that all of us have-that dreaded loose stitch at the beginning and end of each row.  This is even more noticeable when knitting garter stitch (knit every row).

This is normal-don't worry about it.  When you finish the garment and sew it together the loose stitches will be in your seam.  If you are making a scarf or blanket, you will notice that the stitches don't look nearly as loose the further you get on your knitting.
